History



1993



MicroSafe B.V. was founded in Leiden, The Netherlands as an independent contract testing and consultancy organization in the field of microbiology by Mike Edgington, a microbiologist, Jolande Schoemaker, an industrial pharmacist and Joke Ederveen, a virologist. The founders together had a wealth of experience in the technical field as well as in financial management within the pharmaceutical industry.



1994



MicroSafe was inspected by the Dutch Ministry of Health for cGMP compliance and by the Inspectorate for Good Laboratory Practices from the Ministry of Agriculture and Fishery for compliance to the OECD guidelines for GLP. Since these inspections MicroSafe is both cGMP and GLP approved.



1995



MicroSafe's laboratories expanded: logistics was added as a separate department to assure a smooth planning and communication of the status of projects with our clients.



1997



MicroSafe’s laboratories expanded due to increased growth in customer base.



1999



MicroSafe’s laboratories expanded due to increased service offerings for mycoplasma and virus testing.



2003



Research & Development (R&D) was added to MicroSafe as part of the implementation strategy of developing a European expansion profile.



2005



MicroSafe is acquired by Millipore Corporation
